Contra-indications:
- Children
- Vitamin C increases excretion of uric acid, a common cause of kidney stones. A personal or family history of kidney stones is a warning that you should not take high doses of vitamin C in the long term.
- Diabetic medications (diabinase) and sulphur drugs may not be as effective when taken with vitamin C
- Each tablet contains 275mg sodium which should be taken into account by people on a low sodium diet
- Not suitable for phenylketonurics (CONTAINS ASPARTAME).
Adverse effects:
Diarrhoea in excessive doses.

Ingredient Information:
Vitamin C
- Helps reduce the recovery time to colds at doses of 1-2 grams per day.
- Helps maintain resistance to bacterial and viral infections in conjunction with B Complex, Zinc, Iron and Vitamin A.
- Helps maintain the strength of blood vessel walls, particularly those of the capillaries. Recommended for diabetics who are at risk of developing serious eye damage due to haemorrhages in the eye caused by capillary fragility.
- Maintains collagen, a protein necessary for the formation and health of connective tissue in skin, gums, ligaments, tendons, bones and teeth.
Is important for the production of cortisol by the adrenal glands and the stress reaction. - Speeds up the healing process of wounds.
- Acts as an antioxidant that protects other vitamins and body tissues, particularly membranes, from injury caused by poisons, pollution and free radicals.
- Helps lower raised cholesterol levels (300-1,000mg daily).
- Enhances iron absorption.
- Helps reduce heavy metal poisoning, particularly lead.
- High doses (4 grams per day) increase the excretion of uric acid in urine.

Echinacea
- Is commonly known as Cone flower. Growing wild in the western plains of USA, numerous American Indian tribes considered it a panacea for all ills. Recent scientific documentation of its immune enhancing effects are validating its benefits.
- The British Herbal Compendium states that Echinacea has (immune enhancing), anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and vulnerary (skin healing) properties.
DEFICIENCY SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF VITAMIN C:
- Susceptibility to infection due to decreased phagocytic activity and motility of the white blood cells
- Easy bruising
- Swollen and bleeding gums due to decreased synthesis of mucopolysaccharides and collagen synthesis
- Depression, hysteria, hypochondriases - early feature
- Hair follicles on the limbs and trunk plugged with skin scales
- Each hair as it leaves the skin may be coiled or distorted
- Lethargy, malaise and irritability may result from reduced synthesis of adrenal hormones
