Pancreas
The pancreas is an organ of the body responsible for secreting pancreatic enzymes into the digestive tract to digest proteins, fats and complex carbohydrates.
Scattered through the pancreas are several hundred thousand clusters of cells called islets of Langerhans which is an endocrine tissue containing four types of cells. The beta cells are responsible for the secretion of insulin and alpha cells responsible for the secretion of glucagon.
