Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)

The body cannot produce enough essential fatty acids to sustain health so they must be supplied in the diet.  The major essential fatty acids are linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3).  Like vitamins, the absence of EFAs in the diet cause deficiency diseases such as hair loss, swollen & painful joints, dry & scaly skin, irritability, lethargy, infertility, infections, liver problems and poor tissue structure.
